2010 Summer Reading List
July 27th, 2008

For several years now the students of Saint John School have been involved in a Summer Reading Program. This literature program is designed to impove students' reading skills, impart knowledge of children's authors and books, and hopefully instill a love of reading. Our St. John teachers are truly committed to these goals.

Reading requires patience just as tennis, baseball, soccer and piano require practice. So, once again, we are continuing the summer reading for our students. Students in Grade 5 - 8 will be required to read a minimum of three books.

Through the enclosed Reading List, we hope to expose students to a rich literary heritage. We encourage the students to choose those titles that appeal specifically to them.

As parents, you are part of our community of readers, a community that extends beyond the classroom into your homes. Talk about their reading and encourage your children to share their reading with you.

I ask that you support our Summer Reading Program. Thank you for your continued cooperation and enjoy your summer.

Sincerely,

Kathleen King
