Literature and Language Arts Grades 6,7,8
Rosemary Lauria

My name is Rosemary Lauria; I
joined the St. John School during the 2009-2010 school year.
This is my 12 year as a Catholic school teacher, and I am
currently teaching literature and language arts in grades 6,7,8.
With the exception of two years, I've worked within the
Archdiocese of Hartford, primary in the upper grades. A
native New Yorker, my first career
(prior to teaching) was in the field of Customer Service, mostly
at PepsiCo Inc., in Purchase, N.Y.
I earned teaching certification
at S.C.S.U in 1997 in addition to a Bachelor of Science degree in
Behavorial Sciences ( minor in communication, French, and
business) from Iona College
(New Rochelle, NY); and a Master's of Arts degree in
Organizational Psychology from the University of New Haven.
I've also worked part-time
and summers, for 12 years, at the Sylvan Learning Center in
Wallingford. Here I taught students from grade 3-8 sometimes
beyond in the areas of writing, reading, mathematics, and study
skills.
I have a beagle named Jake,
and a husband, Pat. Our married daughter, Jillian is
interning as a clinical social worker and will be a 2010 summa cum
laude graduate of the University of Maine. Our son Joseph
graduated from UCONN in 2009, and is currently job-hunting within
the field of communications and/or public relations, following an
internship for the NTSB in Washington, D.C. last summer.
I enjoy reading, spending
time with family and friends, playing with the computer, and
shopping.
